As the holiday season winds down, I take pause to reflect on all that has happened from the giving of thanks to the season of giving. It has been an incredible first half of our 2018-2019 KCBA year – very much due to the giving of our board and members alike. For this, I am thankful.
Did you know our KCBA raised over $2,500 for the Great Lakes Center for Autism Treatment and Research? With solely the contributions from our incredibly generous members, GLC’s residents will now have outdoor bas- ketball hoops at each GLC center – something the GLC has been trying to achieve for nearly a decade. Basketball hoops might sound silly at first, but they were much needed as the hoops will strongly assist the residents with outdoor activity and therapy. Thank you to our members!
Did you know that our Young Lawyers Section “adopted” a family for Christmas for the 5th year in a row? This year’s family was no small feat. Rachel Suhrbier, of Legal Aid, and Sam Gilbertson, our YLS president, lead our YLS to success in providing for a family of 6 this year! YLS’s contributions to the family in need included clothing, hygiene products, fun gifts, and a Christmas meal. This would not have been possible without the incredible contributions from the Landlord-Tenant Bench Bar. Wow. Just wow. Thank you, Rachel, Sam, and the KCBA Landlord-Tenant Bench Bar!
Did you know that Don Roberts has spent many of his years as an attorney – throughout each year – giving back to our community? Whether it be for a special event/occasion, the Pro Bono Clinic, and so much more, Don can be found lending a hand. His contributions leave me humbled and in awe. Thank you, Don, for all that you do!
On January 10, 2019, the YLS/KCBA-Wide Mixer will be fully sponsored by Arbor Financial and taking place at Automation Design + Entertainment. Sodas, beers, and appetizers are complimentary. Festivities begin at 5:01 p.m. Let’s mingle, mix, and unwind after the holidays! Come one, come
