On February 14th Nancy Johnson and Alice Gordon met with the Kalamazoo Juvenile Home Foundation Board to present a check for $800.00. This check is in support of a program to provide job readiness skills to facilitate a successful transition back to the community. Present were: Danielle Mason Anderson, Chair of the Board, Peter Holt, Juvenile Home Director, Cheri Bell, Board member and Kalamazoo Lawyers Alliance, and Alice Gordon, President of the KLA. The check was a grant presented to us from the American Lawyers Alliance at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. This grant will support the Job Readiness Skills for Juvenile Residents. Special thanks to the KCBA and KLA for their support.
Our second check for the Kalamazoo Juvenile Home Foundation Board was from the Kalamazoo Lawyers Alliance for $4000. We received these funds from the Michigan Lawyers Alliance when the state organization dissolved. Nancy Johnson, our Treasurer, presented the check to the Board and Chair, Danielle Mason Anderson. Norma Stancati and Alice Gordon met with Peter Holt to find out the needs at the Juvenile Home and he presented suggestions for funding opportunities. We earmarked these funds to support the Transition Funding for long-term residents.
